MACHINE/PERSON COLLISION DETECTION

Prevent vehicle and machinery collisions with a proximity warning system

spacebands wearables and beacons create a virtual safety zone around vehicles and machinery. Workers receive instant alerts when they move into danger, giving them time to step back to safety.

Every alert and near miss is captured in your analytics dashboard so you can spot high-risk areas, change layouts and reduce the chance of future incidents.

SPACEBANDS SOLUTION

Workers don’t always pay attention, but spacebands do

Even the best operators get distracted, rush tasks or lose visibility around blind corners. Signage and training are essential, but they cannot react in real time when a person and vehicle are on a collision course.

spacebands adds a second pair of eyes on every shift. Beacons fitted to forklifts, telehandlers and other plant communicate with wearables to detect when a worker enters a defined danger zone. The wearable sends a clear warning so they can move out of harm’s way before an incident occurs.

At the same time, all alerts and near misses sync to the dashboard. You can see recurring hot spots, poor traffic routes and unsafe behaviour, then take targeted action instead of guessing where your risks are.

PRODUCT BENEFITS

Real time collision warning and data analytics system

spacebands allows you to set proximity warning zones around vehicles and fixed machinery, creating clear “do not enter” bubbles that move with your plant.

When a worker wearing a spacebands device moves into a danger zone, their wearable alerts them with vibration, light and sound so they can step back before a collision happens.

Every alert, near miss and collision is logged to a centralised analytics dashboard. You can identify repeat problem areas, peak-risk times and high-risk tasks, then redesign routes, change layouts or update procedures to make your sites safer and more efficient.

Customizable Settings:

Machinery/vehicles have a beacon fitted, which will alert employee’s wearing a spacebands wearable device when they come within a set proximity.

The wearable will record if there is a collision or a near miss, and send the data to the dashboard.

STATISTICS

Machinery accounts for 7% of all accidents in the workplace

Across Europe and the UK, machinery and workplace transport remain a major source of serious and fatal injuries. Many incidents involve workers on foot in the path of forklifts, yard vehicles or other moving plant.

In addition, transportation incidents are consistently one of the most frequent types of fatal event in workplaces, with incidents involving vehicles and mobile equipment making up a significant share of work-related deaths each year.

Person to vehicle collisions are rarely “freak accidents”. They are often tied to poor segregation, blind spots, tight aisles and human error. Proximity warning systems add an extra control on top of physical barriers and training, helping prevent serious incidents before they happen.

Nick S

Senior H&S Manager

spacebands have transformed the way we control exposure to vibration. In just a year of use we have reduced exposure by close to 80%. And our production has become far more engaged in proactive safety.
I’d recommend spacebands to any company that takes safety seriously.

Robert M

Health & Safety Manager

Since introducing spacebands, we’ve seen a huge improvement in how we manage hand–arm vibration exposure.
Our monitoring is now instant and accurate, and we’ve significantly reduced the risk of overexposure. The team is also more aware of safe working limits, which has boosted our overall safety culture.

Chris P

Plant Manager

We had previously used a different HAVs wearable, but they were sitting on a shelf gathering dust because our team didn't have the time for tool tagging.
With spacebands, they just have to be wearing the wearable and it records daily exposure.

David N

Site Manager

spacebands gave us the ability to measure various levels of exposure, various tools and various tasks without having to recalibrate or recalculate; or most importantly having a negative effect on our production.
We looked at a few other options but no others that we saw came with that level of flexibility.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

spacebands are helping Health & Safety managers around the world reduce accidents, injuries and legal claims

Can I mute specific wearables so they don’t issue a warning?

Yes you can mute specific wearables so they don’t send an alert. Use cases include if a worker has the required certification or access permissions to be in a certain area then they wouldn’t need to be alerted. You may choose to mute drivers of vehicles such as forklifts, as an example, as they will be in constant proximity to a beacon.

Is it difficult to set the devices up?

spacebands has been designed to be rolled out at enterprise level with ease. Devices can be set-up as soon as you have purchased them, before they have even been delivered. Customising features and settings is easy and can be done through the desktop dashboard. spacebands require an internet connection within proximity to our Charging Station, but otherwise there are no infrastructure requirements whatsoever.

How long is the contract length?

We offer 12, 24 and 36 month contract lengths - with increased discounts the longer the plan length. Each plan gives you full access to all safety features, the analytics dashboard - and unlimited admin users.

Can I control who has access to the dashboard analytics?

Yes, only admins have access to the dashboard analytics. Enterprising allows regional access, so managers can view their own data without having access to other regions (unless you want them to).

What is the distancing range of the machine/person collision warning feature?

Machinery/vehicles have a beacon fitted, which will alert employees wearing a spacebands wearable device when they come within a set proximity (near, middle or far).

What happens if one of the devices malfunctions?

Our returns policy enables hassle free returns of the product with no arguments. If a device is broken, we will replace it and then investigate, not the other way around.
